Last weekend, we went to BU’s homecoming and my granddad’s 70th birthday party.

Anyone that has talked to me in the past year knows how much I miss time spent with my bestie and fam. So a weekend of laughs, food and good times is just what my soul needed.

We had so much fun that we went back to the south side to visit my granddad two days later on his actual birthday. TD1 may have also demanded she go to Granddaddy’s birthday cake, but who’s keeping track.

It was a lot of driving and I was super tired after all of the festivities, but we had fun. All of us. The girls got to run around our old stomping grounds, cheer on “the scary thing,” also known as Bradley’s mascot Kaboom, and meet our lovely President. They played with my bestie’s two kids. Then they got some much needed quality time in with their great-granddad. I don’t know who had more fun – them or him.

I got to see my bestie and her kids. Nothing makes you realize how time flies more than seeing the baby you drove three hours to see in the hospital now walking and talking. Then I spent time with my family. Laughing. Talking. Eating. Drinking. Drama-free.

It was a great time. It was like coming home after a long time away.
